  • Printing Guidelines

Allow material to adapt to room conditions for 24 hours before printing. It is recommended to handle the media with cotton gloves. Make sure that the media comes not into contact with grease, oil, silicon, and dirt to avoid printing defects.

Load the media with care in the printers. Incorrect loading can cause skewing or creasing. Use a take- up device to prevent wrinkling. It is recommended to calibrate the printer before printing and to make a test print. Print results will vary for different printer/ink combinations. Too high drying or curing temperatures can lead to a deformation of the film which can later cause further problems while processing. Canon media profiles include recommended settings for ink restrictions and printer parameters.

Depending on fluctuations in environment, printer, ink, media and applications, printer parameters may have to be adjusted slightly, in order to obtain the best results. For high-speed production printing, using an external drying unit is recommended.

  • Application Guidelines

The VOC which are contained in solvent and latex inks must be fully dried before further processing. For this reason it is necessary to take long enough drying times into account. The drying time of the printed media depends very much on the quantity of solvent applied. When printing the film in a roll-to-roll process, the printed strip must be unrolled and laid flat as soon as soon as possible until final drying. Solvent residues due to insufficient drying times can negatively impact the quality of the finished product. In order to avoid denting the film during transport we basically recommend to wind up the finished printings on paperboard cores with minimum diameters of 76mm.

The printed surface must be protected if it is subject over a long time to humidity, abrasion, sweat or other mechanical influences. In this case the print must be protected with self-adhesive laminating films or appropriate liquid lamination products. Use pressure sensitive (cold) laminate films to protect this product.

Laminating films or fluids may distort the crystal clear optical properties of the film. Due to the unique solvent based adhesive, the film can be wet mounted and removed without residue. Before mounting the glass must be clean and free of dirt, grease or other residues. During mounting the glass should have a temperature of at least 15°C. As mounting help we recommend water mixed with some liquid soap.

For the mounting humidify the glass and the IJM676 adhesive uniformly and apply the printed film with the adhesive side on the glass. Then remove carefully the water with a squeegee from the middle to the edges and absorb it with a clean cotton cloth or some soft paper. The water must be completely removed to avoid the formation of bubbles due to a rest of humidity. The removal of the mounted film from the background is facilitated by heating it up with a hair dryer or hot-air gun. For this the film must be detached slowly and steady in an acute angle.
