MakerBot Sketch Extruder (Pack of 2) (900-0061A):
The design of the extruder for the MakerBot Sketch is optimized for ease of use and affordability of replacement ideal for use in the classroom.
EXTRUDER COMPONENTS:
- 1. The Extruder Carriage – The extruder carriage consists of the fans that regulate the temperature of the extruder and insulate the incoming material. It also contains the electronics that provide heat to the extruder.
- 2. The Extruder Hot End and Nozzle – The extruder hot end and the nozzle are a smaller component that contain the heating element and the nozzle which allows the material to extrude and print onto the build plate.
EXTRUDER UNCLOGGING:
The MakerBot Sketch ships with a metal plunger, which is a tool that aids in the unclogging of the extruder.
REPLACING THE NOZZLE:
The Nozzle can be removed easily from the extruder carriage in the event that it needs to be replaced. The nozzle is held in place by the connector and the extruder release mechanism.
The extruder nozzle can be removed by pressing the extruder release buttons and pulling the nozzle downward. This makes for easy replacement and a seamless workflow.
Note: The MakerBot Sketch extruder, when replaced, must be adjusted to match the temperature that the printer is running at. This is referred to as adjusting the “temperature offset”. This may be new to some seasoned MakerBot users, but ensures that the MakerBot Extruder will work consistently, should the nozzle need to be replaced.
