FAQ's
Tracing paper is a translucent paper designed to let light pass through, allowing you to easily trace, overlay, or refine artwork and technical drawings. It’s commonly used in design, architecture, illustration, tattoo art and pattern work where precision and transparency are important.
Sketch paper is a lightweight, textured media created for freehand drawing, rough layouts, and preliminary concept work. Compared to standard tracing paper, sketch paper is less transparent but is typically lighter with weights starting at just 23gsm. It has better tooth for pencils, markers, and inks, making it ideal for early ideation and creative exploration.
Detail paper refers to smooth, fine-tooth paper that allows crisp lines and intricate detailing. It’s perfect for architectural details, engineering concepts, illustration refinement, and any work that needs high-precision mark making. It is heavier than standard sketch paper at 53gsm.
Yes – inkjet specific tracing paper can be used in wide-format printers when the printer supports lightweight translucent media. Always check your printer specifications and settings, but many plotting and CAD devices handle tracing media well for technical overlays and review prints.
Sewing pattern paper is a lightweight drafting media designed for fashion design and tailoring. At 60gsm and more opaque, it allows seamstresses, tailors and fashion designers to easily cut out pattern designs. Sewing pattern paper holds up better during handling.
Choose sketch paper for ideation, thumbnailing, and freehand creative work. For precise overlays and refinement of designs, tracing paper or detail paper is better. If your workflow involves drafting physical patterns (e.g., in fashion or sewing), sewing pattern paper offers the strength and flexibility required.
