What’s the difference between A4 copier paper and A3 copier paper?

A4 copier paper is the standard size used for everyday documents, letters, and office printing. A3 copier paper is twice the size of A4 and is typically used for larger presentations, charts, posters, technical drawings, or anything that needs more layout space. Paper quality varies, even between the same weights. Different qualities are indicated on the product page.

Can any printer use A3 copier paper?

No. Only printers specifically designed to support A3 output can use A3 copier paper. Most standard home and office printers accept A4 only. If you need to print larger spreadsheets, graphics, or technical documents, check that your device supports A3 before purchasing.

What GSM should I choose for everyday A4 copier paper?

For general office use, 80gsm A4 copier paper is the most popular choice as it provides a good balance between quality and cost. If you want a more premium feel for reports or external documents, you may prefer 90–100gsm for better opacity and a more professional finish.

Is A3 copier paper suitable for colour printing?

Yes. Most A3 copier paper is absolutely suitable for colour prints, especially charts, posters, and presentations. For high-quality graphics, you may want a slightly heavier or brighter stock to improve colour accuracy and reduce show-through. We reccommend Canon Top Colour Paper as it’s smoother, bulkier and able to handle more colour.

Can I use A4 copier paper for double-sided printing?

Yes, provided the paper is of good opacity. Standard A4 copier paper performs well for double-sided text documents. If you’re printing colour or heavy ink coverage on both sides, a slightly thicker paper such as 90gsm or 100gsm may give better results.

What’s the best paper type for home or office use?

For everyday printing, A4 copier paper in 80gsm is ideal and cost-effective. If your office prints large documents such as spreadsheets, design layouts, or plans, keeping A3 copier paper on hand is useful for improved readability and more flexible formatting.
