Building on other products in the imagePROGRAF range the TA-20 uses Canon Lucia pigment ink & utilises smaller more affordable 55ML ink cartridges as such for low volume users you don't have to tie up lots of money in larger ink cartridges, higher volume users should however consider the lower cost per ML on the Canon TM-200 or the Canon TX-2000. In all instances Canon Lucia Pigment ink delivers water resistant & light fast prints ideal for shop display, sandwich boards & taking building plans on to site.
You don't need to be an expert in graphic design to benefit from poster or point of sale printing, bundled with the TA-20 is Canon Poster Artist Lite, a free software tool allowing you to easily create posters, quickly & efficiently without the need for either expensive Desktop Publishing software or Graphic Designers.

Canon TA-20 Our Opinion
Canon enter what is classed as the Ultra Low Volume Market with the TA-20, Designed for small work groups or light volume use, despite this the TA-20 is like all Canon imagePROGRAF plotters a robust well engineered printer.
Bringing a new benchmark in pricing to the Canon line up the TA-20 comes in at under £700 + VAT without stand in it's desktop form, the stand and paper catcher basket can be bought separately.
The ULV market offers entry in to wide-format printing at a low capital investment, however typically the cost per print is higher as ink cartridges tend to be more expensive per ML, the bigger more costly the machine the lower the cost of a cartridge. The imagePROGRAF TA-20 bucks this trend a little with 55ML ink cartridges in all colours at around £37 each compared with other manufacturers who offer 29ML colour inks, however it's slightly bigger brother the TM-200 can use a choice of 130ML or 300ML inks and when you consider that a 300ML is about £100 and you're nearly getting 6 times more ink at only 3 times the price it might be worth considering the TM as an alternative (Plus it comes with the stand and 650ML of ink out the box - so an immediate saving when all added up)
The best thing about the Canon ink in this instance is that it is Light Fast & Water resistant, ideal for Construction Drawings as well as Posters & Graphics / infographics for retail applications and venues where poster messaging is critical. Although not a 12 colour printer it can also produce a good quality photograph as well. It allows small businesses to make a low investment cost and deliver great quality output & as Canon also include some easy to use creation poster software you don't need to be a graphic designer to create great graphics.
If your likely to be a light volume user then we'd recommend the TA-20 as a great introduction in to wide-format printing without a large upfront financial outlay.
